joseph branciforte (b. 1985) is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, designer, and grammy award-winning recording engineer based out of new york. he is the founder of the greyfade record label.

his recent creative projects include two duo albums with vocalist theo bleckmann—LP1 (2019) and LP2 (2023)— featuring branciforte on fender rhodes and electronics, taylor deupree's sti.ll (2024), which branciforte arranged, produced, and featuring his performance on vibraphone, and guitarist ben monder's three-disc planetarium (2024) which he produced, engineered, and featuring his performance on drums.

in 2019 he founded the greyfade record label to bring his diverse creative interests together, presenting work from artists exploring process-based composition, electronic & acoustic minimalism, and alternative tuning systems. greyade releases feature branciforte's audio production and art direction, serving as an outlet for ongoing experimentation with visual media and physical product design.

as a recording, mixing, and mastering engineer, branciforte has amassed an expansive discography, working on hundreds of recordings for artists such as bill frisell, chick corea, vijay iyer, tim berne, jack quartet, nels cline, wadada leo smith, craig taborn, marc ribot, steve lehman, and the westerlies. he has received both grammy and latin grammy awards for his work.

he works primarily out of greyfade studio, his recording, mixing, and mastering space just north of new york city.
